LEGACY + HISTORY

Irv "Gotti" Lorenzo didn't wait for permission.

Coming out of Hollis, Queens, he walked into rooms that weren't built for him and left with the keys. As a DJ, A&R, and producer, he developed an instinct for talent that the industry hadn't seen and he built a machine around it.

Murder Inc. Records. Ja Rule. Ashanti. DMX. Jay-Z. These weren't lucky breaks. They were the product of a man who heard what others missed and moved before the moment passed. At its peak, Murder Inc. was one of the most dominant forces in American music: multi-platinum records, a landmark partnership with Def Jam, and a cultural footprint that defined an era.

When the industry shifted, Irv shifted with it. He took his vision to television, creating Tales for BET, a critically recognized anthology series that proved his storytelling instincts translated far beyond the recording booth. Development partnerships with Tubi and Paramount Pictures followed. A $100M catalog sale confirmed what the streets already knew: the work had lasting value.

Visionary Ideas Entertainment was his next move. A film and music production company built to operate at the intersection of culture and commerce, on his own terms, the way it had always been.

Irv "Gotti" Lorenzo passed away on February 5, 2025.

He left behind a body of work that shaped a generation and a company built to carry that vision forward.

The Work Continues

Irv entrusted Visionary Ideas to Darcell Lawrence and John "BJ" Bryant, now Co-CEOs of the company he built. They were by his side when it mattered most. They know what he built, what he intended, and what comes next.

"We will not only continue his legacy. We will expand it into something that would make him proud." — Darcell Lawrence
